Join our team and help make a difference We are looking for a dynamic and compassionate Activity Instructor, Drama to teach and facilitate a youth centered Drama classes, including two yearly showcases. Reports to: Program Director CS300 Location: 2050 Prospect Avenue, Bronx New York 10457 Hours: Up To 12 Hours/ Week, Non-Exempt (Sept-June) MAJOR DUTIES: Recruit participants through Caf Jam Responsible to maintain a minimum of 10 students in drama activity/ day Facilitate two drama classes per week that follow a social group work model Pre-planning of activity; activities are to provide students with structure, purposeful use of activity and self, including beginning and ending rituals. Develop boxing curriculum based on students interest. Curriculum should promote creativity, self-expression, opportunity for mastery, and emotional and professional growth. Develop several performances for two culminating events, mid-year and end of the year, showcasing students work. Attend and participate in staff meetings. Facilitate purposeful activities in community hour and participate on other staff lead activities as part of the staff team Foster a youth development, strength s based environment, fostering a sense of belonging, safety, and community to participants. Engage and facilitate group conversations, tracking and supporting students academic success. Collaborate with the Good Shepherds Day Program. Document classes/ workshop planning as required. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED required. Some college and experience with adolescents preferred. Experience and/or training relevant to the position required. Piano accompaniment skills required Must be able to engage young people and set structure and limits in a group setting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.
