The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), founded in 1908, is a professional association of more than 60,000 chemical engineers worldwide. AIChE fosters and disseminates chemical engineering knowledge, supports the professional and personal growth of its members, and applies the expertise of its members to address societal needs and improve the quality of life.
The successful individual will partner with the HR team and be responsible for modernizing and enhancing AIChE s employee experience by planning, implementing and evaluating human resources policies, programs and practices. The HR Manager will support organizational processes and metrics that sustain the achievement of the organization s overall business direction. Individual will champion employee relations, recruitment, training and development, formal recognition plans, onboarding and policies and procedures. He/she will review and recommend employee relations best practices for a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation. He/she will work closely with management on their HR planning and conduct periodic surveys to measure engagement.
Management of the overall recruitment and selection process;
Oversee the new hire orientation process, and introduce new employees to the corporate culture;
Enhance employee relations; offer support to management, teams and individuals;
Ensure innovative systems and practices for employees including onboarding, development, needs assessments and training;
Manage overall payroll processes and procedures
Evaluate, recommend and implement modern systems for the HR experience.
Monitor and report on key human resources metrics (ie: turnover, exit interviews, staffing activity, diversity and overall trends,); recommend methodologies and actions to leadership;
Maintain a working knowledge of federal and state legislation that impacts the various facets of the employment function to insure practices and policies are in compliance for domestic and international staff;
Ensures proper policy development and documentation;
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chief of Administration
Bachelor s degree in Human Resources or related business field; SHRM-CP a plus;
5+ years experience in an HR supervisory position;
Demonstrated experience in handling employee relations;
Project management proficiency; especially with implementation of new programs;
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of local, state and federal employment laws;
Exceptional interpersonal, written, verbal and presentation skills; strong relationship-building skills; ability to train employees on human resource systems, procedures and practices;
Strong understanding and experience with HR systems;
Advanced knowledge and proficiency of computer tools, including experience with MS Word, PowerPoint MS Excel, and web based productivity tools required.
